If your starting point is San José, you must take the bus to Heredia Centro, there are two options, you can go to the TUASA terminal (north side of Parque La Merced, Av. 2, between 12 and 14 streets) or to the Busetas Heredianas (Street 8, Av Central and 2). When you get to Heredia Centro, you will have to go to Parque El Carmen and board the bus called “Las Chorreras”. |

Heredia is one of the provinces of Costa Rica which also gives the valuable and appreciated coffee, during the journey you can see large areas with this product and many places to have a cup of coffee, be attentive because you can buy in little shops homemade bread and delicious “chorreadas”, very traditional Costa Rican pastry. With regard to the road, it is in perfect condition and the roadtrip will only last about 30 minutes, from the center of Heredia to the recreation center.
This fascinating place is also known for “Las Chorreras”, since here water sources, that supply several communities of the province, set off. If you are looking for a place to take pictures or impressive portraits, you should visit this recreation park, since its different scenarios are captivating, in fact, we saw several photographers producing couples sessions in this beautiful place.
Ideal for a weekend out, since you will find different activities to do. If you go with your family, the playground is excellent for children, it is very spacious and has several swings and sledges. We could also observe some people who enjoyed running their remote control cars since the green area is large, in the video you can see the aerial shots of this area (minute 00:01:17). Here, you will find little ranches to make your lunch, each one has a grill to grill meats or to heat your food.
To opt for a little ranch, you must arrive early; however, you can set a blanket near the shade of the trees and then set up your picnic, or lie down and take a nap or read a good book. If you have rackets, frisbee, take them with you!
If you are a soccer lover, there is a court so you can enjoy this sport, go with your friends and make a small game.
The forest is small but with very varied vegetation, through its short trails, you can enjoy the fresh air and the different sounds produced by nature. The routes have no signaling, so you should be careful not to get lost in them. The trails is made of soil, which is why they are not suitable for people who use a wheelchair.
In summary, if you are one of those who like to breathe fresh air, enjoy the silence and serenity of the forest, the greenery of the mountains and share a picnic, this place is for you. It is a familiar place.
